New to church?

We know that going to a new place can sometimes be intimidating so we want to do everything we can to make your visit a positive one. Whether you’re coming back to church or you’re trying it out for the first time, we know it's a big step. Our prayer is that you would feel welcome and find a new home with us at Cornerstone Church.

Here is a list of some of the frequently asked questions you might have:

Who comes to Cornerstone Church?
What happens at your services?
How long are the services?
Do you collect money during the service?
Will I be asked to do anything during the service?
Can I bring my children?
What is the dress code?
Can I park at the church?

Who comes to Cornerstone Church?

Anyone and everyone are more than welcome. Cornerstone has a mixed congregation who come together from a variety of backgrounds and traditions.

What happens at your services?

While there are specific things we do at special times of the year (like Christmas or Easter), our Sunday services are focused on worship with practical messages from God's Word, the Bible. Services tend to include the following:

  • We sing together a variety of songs, from the contemporary to the traditional (led by our music team)

  • We have a time of prayer

  • We have a short(!) time for church announcements

  • We hear the Bible read to us, and then explained in a talk

  • Every few weeks, we share Communion

During a normal service we play a lot of “stand up sit down”. If you are not sure what to do, just follow what everyone else is doing. Often the leader will guide the congregation with instructions throughout the service. If you feel you are unable to stand, don’t worry, there are often other people sitting.

How long are the services?

The 10.30am service is normally about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Do you collect money during the service?

No. We do not expect visitors to give. There is a collection box to the rear of the church if you feel you wish to give, but don’t feel pressured into putting anything in. We believe that giving our money to God's work in this Church is an act of worship and our members freely give to support our church.

Will I be asked to do anything during the service?

No, nothing to fear! Whilst a number of people from the congregation play an active role in our services, we want Cornerstone to be as safe and as unthreatening a place as possible, so you will never be asked to do anything you do not want to do.

Can I bring my children?

Absolutely! We do have an area at the back of the hall for creche aged children (0-3years) where parents can sit with their children. We also run Cornerstone Kidz every week where children have the opportunity to dig into God's word, engage in activities and spend time in prayer.

All volunteers working with children have a current DBS (formerly CRB) certificate and we adhere to an up-to-date safeguarding policy.

What is the dress code?

The simple answer is, there is no dress code - we want you to feel comfortable, so just come as you are!

Can I park at the church?

Yes. We have plenty of space in the car park. The school is easy to walk and cycle to.
